When World Cafe traveled to Australia for our Sense of Place series,
we discovered some fantastic new bands in Sydney — Middle Kids, Julia Jacklin, Thelma Plum, and Boy & Bear among them. We also reconnected with two of Australia's elder rock 'n' roll statesmen: Steve Kilbey of The Church and Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil. So much great music has come out of Australia over the years, so for your weekend listening we've put together a playlist of musicians both old and new.

We'll be back in January with the second part of our Sense of Place: Australia series, focusing on the city of Melbourne. Until then, enjoy the music.
