A comic operetta by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert
Co-directors Amanda Lobaugh and Charles Palella have chosen a traditional setting for this classic in the Gilbert & Sullivan canon, complete with stripe-shirted gondoliers and full-skirted, red-and-white-rose bedecked contadini (peasant girls). Love, long-hidden secrets, possible royalty, a long-lost nurse who is the only one who knows who’s who …and a good deal of traveling across the seas “in search of” propel a typically Gilbertian plot, all accompanied by lilting, dance-inducing music.
Off-Monroe Players is particularly excited to be performing The Gondoliers in the Robert F. Panara Theatre at NTID, on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus. We look forward to welcoming you to a fully-handicapped accessible, modern professional theatre! Among many other advantages, performing at the Panara Theatre will allow us to mic our singers, ensuring that you don’t miss a word of Gilbert’s witty patter songs or dialogue.
Four performances only! Admission is FREE, but be sure to reserve your seat by visiting our website: https://www.off-monroeplayers.org or by phoning: 585-232-5570.
