WRUR-FM 88.5 will begin airing the daily talk show, Connections with Evan Dawson, beginning Monday, September 8th from 12-2 p.m. Connections is produced by WXXI and is also available on AM 1370(Rochester),WEOS-FM (Geneva), as well as online at WXXI.org, WRUR.org and WEOS.org.
The live two-hour call-in talk show covers a vast array of topics including regional issues such as fracking, education, agriculture, and the wine industry, as well as art, politics, and health. WRUR-FM is a broadcast partnership between WXXI and the University of Rochester and thanks to this relationship, WXXI is able to broaden the reach of the daily talk show by offering Connections with Evan Dawson on the FM dial in Rochester.
During Dawson’s first week on WRUR-FM, listeners will hear a conversation with Talk of the Nation’s Neal Conan and Political Junkie’s Ken Rudin about their new roadshow coming to Rochester, primary election day coverage, and a monthly science roundtable featuring University of Rochester’s science department.

Dawson has been hosting Connections since early January. He served as morning anchor for 13WHAM news prior to hosting WXXI’s mid-day talk show. Dawson is also the author of Summer in a Glass: The Coming Age of Winemaking in the Finger Lakes and is the Managing Editor/Finger Lakes Editor for the New York Cork Report, a web site that offers independent news, reviews, and commentary about the New York wine industry. He has written freelance articles on topics including politics, wine, travel, and Major League Baseball. Dawson graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast News.
WRUR-FM 88.5 is a broadcast partnership between WXXI and the University of Rochester that involves the students of the university on a volunteer basis. In addition to morning and afternoon news programming from NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered, WRUR’s format offers a diverse mix of musical styles in the adult album alternative programming. The partnership has enabled AM 1370 to simulcast local and national programming on FM 88.5.
