It's Public Music Day on The Route!

PRMD 2026 Logo

The Route is celebrating Public Radio Music Day, to raise awareness along with our other public media colleagues to emphasize noncommercial stations are an essential engine in supporting the performing arts, sustaining music accessibility, developing artists and audiences, and educating and

enriching communities. WXXI and The Route serve as cultural “homes,” offering a place for all listeners to unite for the shared joy of music, all while being an engine for local venues, musicians and programs. Public radio is curated by the community, for the community—by humans, for humans. Our hosts are local, not algorithms or robots. The Route brings you each day local artists, new music, and old favorites, in addition to your favorite public media programs. Be sure to listen for some exclusive content today!

As you know, Public radio and noncommercial music still face an uncertain future, despite being an indispensable public service. The elimination of federal funding for public media has introduced new challenges for us and our colleagues. Your support in the past and now continues to provide the funding that keeps us alive and continue to be a valuable resource. We thank all our listener members for this and if you would like to join them today, click on the Support Button at the top of the page or go the The Route.org to do just that. Thank you for your continued listenership and for celebrating Public Radio Music Day!
