Ryan Adams used to be the picture of ramshackle prolificacy — a man with Prince's desire to flood the market with product, not to mention an equally slippery grip on the quality-control lever. But Adams has   calmed down dramatically in recent years, for reasons ranging from a stabler personal life to his battles with Ménière's disease, which attacks the inner ear and affects hearing and balance. In September, the former Whiskeytown singer returns with his self-titled 14th studio album, which comes out nearly three years after his lightly brooding Ashes & Fire.

When Kevin Bacon isn't busy starring in legendary movies like Mystic River or Apollo 13, he's playing in his folk

rock band, The Bacon Brothers, with his brother, Michael Bacon. The Philadelphia-born duo released their first album, Forosoco, in 1997, and have released six more albums since, including a live performance at the John Harm's Center for the Arts in Englewood, New Jersey back in 2003, and a greatest hits album called Philadelphia Road - The Best of the Bacon Brothers. Catch them Friday afternoon, July 11th, when they perform as a part of Live from World Cafe Live.

began making a buzz in the British music press last fall, and with their infectious blend of soul-laced R&B and dance music, it won't be long until they’re more widely recognized. tUnE-yArDs In Concert

Jun 9, 2014

A live performance by tUnE-yArDs is as thrilling and unshakeable as the music itself. For this set, recorded live at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., Merrill Garbus, the mad genius behind tUnE-yArDs brought along two frenetic dancers and backup singers, an extra percussionist, a bassist, and two enormous pairs of glittery blue eyes that stared the audience down from the back of the stage.

Jack White, Live In Concert

Jun 9, 2014

"I'm in a talkative mood," Jack White told the sold-out crowd at Hollywood's historic Fonda Theater. Though it ended up being one of the few comments the singer and guitarist made during the performance, White frequently threw it to the audience for the refrains of several White Stripes songs, including "Fell In Love With A Girl," "We're Going To Be Friends," and the thrilling encore closer "Seven Nation Army."

This week's Live From World Cafe Live features David Gray, who will perform to a Sold Out crowd at noon on Friday.
David Gray comes back to town in support of his new album, Mutineers, the latest in a long list of consistently great

music released by Gray, whose first album, A Century Ends, was released in 1993. Since then, the past 21 years have been a whirlwind for UK-born Gray, releasing new music and touring virtually nonstop. He's amassed 10 albums of fantastic music – including 1998’s White Ladder and it’s hit single “Babylon."

Spanish Gold is a new project from members of My Morning Jacket (Patrick Hallahan), Hacienda/City and Colour (Dante Schwebel) and Brownout (Adrian Quesada. Though their main projects have very different

sonic identities from each other, the members of Spanish Gold found common ground in having grown up during the height MTV's music programming. A love for everything from funk, hip hop, pop and R&B informed the songs on South of Nowhere, while the Texas and Nashville roots of the record still shine through.
